Information about Good Faith Estimates & No Surprises Act

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your health care services are expected to cost.

Under the No Surprises Act, health care providers are required to provide clients who do not have insurance, or who are not using insurance to pay for services, with an estimate of the expected charges for scheduled services.

You may ask your therapist for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you schedule services at least 3 business days in advance, you are generally entitled to receive a Good Faith Estimate in writing.

Your Good Faith Estimate will show the expected cost of the services that are reasonably anticipated for your care.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you may be eligible to dispute the bill through the federal patient-provider dispute resolution process.

Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
